Hey camper, check out our 040Parts Tailgate Support Strut. This cool piece is made of 3mm thick steel and keeps your tailgate safely open, even when loaded with a ton of gear and bikes. No more straining and dangerous holding of that heavy tailgate - this little helper makes it possible!
The tailgate support strut clicks into place on its own once the gate has been pushed up. This leaves both hands free and lets you keep the gate open safely without any accidents. To close the tailgate, you just need to lift the support strut briefly. This allows the gas strut cylinder to retract without any issues.
It's compatible with VW Transporter or Multivan models. But heads up: not every model has the same gas struts. That's why you should check the length of the thin damper tube (should be at least 214 mm) and the diameter of the thick damper tube should be a maximum of 32 mm before purchasing. This way, you can make sure our tailgate support strut fits your van perfectly.
And here's a tip: Our tailgate support strut is not compatible with VW California models (Ocean, Coast, Comfortline, Beach). We have a separate version for those!
Even though our tailgate support strut is made from sturdy material, it can be damaged if too much force is applied. So remember to unlock it first before closing or moving the tailgate.
