Legal guarantee of conformity. Goods sold in the European Union have a legal guarantee of conformity of at least two years. Some countries provide a longer period; for second-hand goods the period may be shorter, but not less than one year. Consumers may exercise their rights when goods do not match their description or do not function as intended. The seller is liable for a lack of conformity that existed at delivery and becomes apparent within the guarantee period, and must offer free repair or replacement, or in certain cases a price reduction or full refund. Report the problem as soon as possible and provide proof of purchase such as a receipt, invoice or bank statement. Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees. More information is available through the link and QR code. These commercial guarantees apply independently of the legal guarantee. The GARAN label indicates, for example, that the producer provides at no additional cost a commercial guarantee of durability covering the entire good.
