About us
Sometimes people ask us how we went from Hollywood camera cranes to Thermomix accessories and camping products.
The honest answer?
Somehow logical. At least for us.
Philip and Timo have known each other for over 15 years. They met in the math prep course at university. Philip: calm, analytical, and stoic. Timo: creative, slightly chaotic, and with about 400 ideas per hour. A combination that works surprisingly well. Or as our team would say:
"While Philip sometimes talks too little, Timo definitely talks too much.
"
From Hollywood to the Campsite
What many don't know: Before Mixcover and 040 Parts, we developed and built automated high-end camera cranes for international film productions together. No kits. No standard solutions. But highly complex robotic systems for Hollywood productions, commercials, and action sequences.
Our cranes were mounted on tanks, drifted through Rome, and appeared in productions like Black Widow or James Bond in front of the camera. For that, we got international awards, sleepless nights, and very many discussions about things that were supposedly "technically impossible."
Spoiler: Most of the time, they weren't.
"For those who are curious: No, we didn't personally meet James Bond. But one of his cars definitely had our crane on it.
"
What shaped us back then still shapes our products today
We don't develop things for a catalog. But because we ourselves are in the mood for it. Because something annoys us. Because something needs to be better. Or because we believe a product can be functional and damn good looking at the same time.
"Our biggest mistake is probably that we often think: Sure, we'll build that quickly. And three months later, we're in the workshop at 2 AM.
"
Timo comes from the advertising and film industry, has been a camper for years, and drives a VW California. Philip originally comes from aircraft manufacturing, loves technical solutions down to the smallest detail, and is probably just as much of a perfectionist in private as he is at work.
How our brands came about
Completely organically, like everything runs around here:
- Mixcover — for kitchen, everyday life, and creative solutions around the Thermomix
- 040 Parts — for camping, vanlife, and outdoor accessories
"Two brands, one approach: If it annoys us, we build it better.
"
And even though Philip and Timo have strongly shaped and built the company: Behind everything is a team today, without which this would never work.
Because good ideas sometimes arise at half past one at night between two voice messages — but good products are only created together.
From product design to construction, manufacturing, customer service, logistics, purchasing, content, and daily chaos management: Behind every product are people who work with surprisingly a lot of passion on things that from the outside sometimes look "just" like kitchen or camping accessories.
"We take our products extremely seriously. Ourselves, not so much.
"
Maybe that's exactly where our approach lies
We are not a classic corporate brand. No PowerPoint company. We are developers, tinkerers, problem solvers, and pretty big fans of just trying things out.
Many of our products arise from real own experiences:
- from camping trips,
- from long car rides,
- from annoyed kitchen moments,
- from workshop conversations,
- or from the question: "Why doesn't something like this actually exist yet?"
And if we can't do something, we just learn it. Over the years, that inevitably made us constructors, programmers, marketing people, photographers, electricians, welders, product designers, and feels like we also became half lawyers on the side.
""Can't be done" was never a particularly convincing argument for us.
"
What drives us to this day is not growth at any cost. But the joy of developing products that are really well thought through. Products that you enjoy using every day. And products where you can tell they weren't just sourced from somewhere randomly.
We love good solutions. We love details. And probably we think about some products for way longer than would be healthy.
But that's exactly why we still do this with full enthusiasm.
"Just do it."
