Hey camper, check out our improved 040Parts tailgate stay – it's gotten even better since June! This cool little piece is made of 2 mm thick aluminum and keeps your tailgate securely open, even when it's loaded with lots of gear and bikes. No more struggling and dangerously holding up that heavy tailgate – this little helper makes it happen!
The tailgate stay automatically locks into place as soon as the tailgate is pushed up. That way, you've got both hands free and can leave the tailgate safely open without any risk of accidents. To close the tailgate, simply lift the stay briefly. This allows the gas strut cylinder to retract smoothly.
It's compatible with the Mercedes V-Class, Vito, and especially the Marco Polo models. But heads up, folks: Not every model has the same gas struts. So before buying, you should measure the length of the thin damper tube (should be at least 265 mm) and the diameter of the thick damper tube (should be no more than 32 mm). That way, you can make sure our tailgate stay fits your van perfectly.
And here's another tip: Our tailgate stay is only suitable for gas struts WITHOUT a protective sleeve!
Even though our tailgate stay is made from robust material, it can be damaged if too much force is applied. So remember to release the stay before closing or moving the tailgate.
