Hey camper, check out our 040Parts tailgate prop. This cool piece is made of 3mm thick steel and keeps your tailgate securely open, even when loaded with lots of luggage and bikes. No more tedious and dangerous holding up of the heavy tailgate – this little helper makes it possible!
The prop for the tailgate locks in place automatically as soon as the tailgate is pushed up. This frees both hands and allows you to keep the tailgate safely and accident-free open. To close the tailgate, simply lift the prop briefly. This allows the cylinder of the gas strut to retract smoothly again.
It is compatible with VW Transporter or Multivan models. But beware, folks: not every model has the same gas struts. Therefore, before purchasing, you should check that the length of the thin damper tube is at least 214 mm and the diameter of the thick damper tube is a maximum of 32 mm. This way you can ensure that our tailgate prop fits your van perfectly.
And here’s a tip: Our tailgate prop is not compatible with VW California models (Ocean, Coast, Comfortline, Beach). There is a special version for these!
Even though our tailgate prop is made of robust material, it can be damaged if too much force is applied. So remember to unlock the prop before closing or moving the tailgate.
