The California Ocean has the built-in kitchen (cooktop, refrigerator, sink), cabinets, stationary heater – the whole living module. More comfort from the factory. More weight. More money.
What both have in common: they sit on the same vehicle. That means: Many accessories fit both – but not all.
What Fits for Beach AND Ocean
That's the good news. Most accessories are compatible with both models:
Molle Board (T5/T6/T6.1) The 040 Parts Molle Board mounts on the rear carrier – and that's identical for Beach and Ocean. Whether original VW rear carrier (part number 7E0071104B) or Thule WanderWay – the Molle Board fits both.
Shoe Rack The shoe rack for T5/T6/T6.1 fits on the passenger and driver side – regardless of Beach or Ocean. The rail systems are the same.
Tie-Down Loops and Load Securing The 040Parts tie-down loops for T5/T6/T6.1 use the locking rails in the vehicle floor – those are installed on both models.
Tailgate Stay The tailgate stay for California models fits T5/T6/T6.1 California – Beach and Ocean alike.
Magnetic Mounts For wheel chocks and sandboards – no drilling required, fits anywhere.
Hook Sets The 5-hook set for California Beach works with the standard rails – but watch out: Hook No. 6 from the 10-hook set does NOT fit in the kitchen rail of the T6.1. All other 9 hooks do.
What ONLY Fits the Beach (or Makes More Sense There)
The Beach has more empty space in the back. That makes some solutions more sensible:
Table Extension Important: The standard table extension does NOT fit the T6.1 Beach. For the T6.1 Beach, there's a specific square version. If you have a T6.1 Beach – note this on the product page.
Rear Drawer Anti-Slip Mat Fits the 750mm rear drawer – specifically for T5/T6/T6.1 Comfortline Ocean and Coast. If you're retrofitting a Beach with your own rear drawer: check the dimensions.
Free Mounting Points in the Rear In the Beach, you have more room for Molle Boards, rail systems, and individual storage solutions thanks to the missing kitchen unit.
What ONLY Fits the Ocean
The Ocean has the kitchen rail and the fixed integrated cabinets. That limits some retrofitting options, but also provides its own mounting points.
Note: Some hooks and mounts are specifically designed for the Ocean kitchen rail – or explicitly NOT suitable for it (like Hook No. 6 in the 10-hook set).

The honest answer: The standard table extension does NOT fit the T6.1 Beach because the table there has a different shape. We have a specific version for this model – the "square" variant. That's noted on the product page. Just check before buying.

Can I still fully open the sliding door on the Beach when the Molle Board is mounted? The Molle Board is mounted on the rear carrier, not on the sliding door. The sliding door is not affected by this. If the board is mounted all the way back on the C-rail (interior), then yes – the sliding door may be restricted in certain positions.
